Ever since I was a little kid, like many, I was obsessed with cowboys and Indians, rifles, revolvers, etc. Then as I grew older, like many, I became a huge fan of action flicks like ‘Lethal Weapon’ and ‘Die Hard’ series. Then as I got even older, I became a huge military buff. Watching Saving Private Ryan almost every day after middle school, black hawk down was huge for me when it came out. Then of coarse, We Were Soldiers, was even bigger.

Well, I joined the military at the age of 18, and fell in LOVE with guns. I love the sport of shooting, the amount of time it takes to fine tune a shooters skill, and all of the different types of weapons and how those weapons operate, disassemble, and how they are constructed.

So now here we are, it’s 2009, I am 22 years old, due to be married in less than 80 days, and looking into the future of my life, and where I sit currently.

Recently, I heard the 911 sound files from a caller that was subject to a home invasion. There was a man, completely high off pcp, that was banging and slamming himself against a family’s sliding glass door. The father told the kids to run up stairs (two little girls I believe) and lock the door and not to let anyone in. He called the 911 operator and was on the phone with them during this whole scene.

***BANG BANG SMASH BANG BANG*** is all you could hear as the man tried to force himself inside the residence. Knowing that the glass door would soon shatter into a million pieces allowing access to the intruder. The man had enough. He handed the phone to his wife and you could hear ‘Baby talk to the police, I’m going to get the gun’

The man repetitively told the intruder “Sir, I have a gun, you are scaring my family, PLEASE leave”. This went on for about 2 minutes of him begging the intruder to leave and let his family be.

Over the phone the woman began to scream as the intruder located the family’s iron chair/table set on the porch. He picked up a chair, threw it at the door and it started to crack. The husband said ‘SIR!!!! LEAVE US ALONE! I HAVE A GUN’ and all  you here is

***SMASH*** as the chair comes flying through the door, and soon followed by the intruder…..

Three shots are fired. The woman is hysterical on the phone, the husband takes it.

“Ma’am, I’ve just shot the man”
“Is he dead”

“He’s not moving any more”

“Sir the police are on their way, they should be there very shortly”

What I fear most in life is this situation. What would of happened had that man not had a gun to protect his home? A man jacked up on PCP is nothing to mess around with. They could all of been murdered. OR WORSE.

Hopefully one day I can sit down with my Fiance’s father and convince him to let me purchase a firearm, for the house. It would only take a few weeks to teach his Wife, and Shannon, how to shoot it. Him and I both being prior military, can operate/maintain/and secure said firearm.

Thoughts?

Not long ago, at least it seems, I was out in the middle of the South Carolina woods  on my final 7 day “FTX” (Field Training Exercise) of basic training for the U.S.Army.

Here’s some quick back round before I dive head first into this story 99% of the 10 viewers I’ve had on my blog will not understand.

I was 3rd squad leader of 4th platoon of 313th Infantry Unit.  My best friend in basic training, PVT Parker, was in my squad. Arrival at the final campsite where we would spend our last three days consisted of forming a perimeter around our camp, setting up firing positions, hooch’s, and 1 foxhole (about 5 ft deep, 6 feet across, more than big enough to burry  a body in) in each squad (total of 4 squads in our platoon).

Now back to the story….

At night fall, the Drill Sergeant for my platoon made his rounds to each squad and informed the squad leaders that we were to construct a guard schedule and we were to have 2 men up at all times, in the fox hole.

Fuck… my squad is going to LOVE this news.

So me being the coolest guy, decide to take the middle shift, meaning I get the least sleep. I only get 2 hours of sleep before I get woke up for my shift, 2 hours on shift, and 1 hour of sleep out of a total of 6. Being the squad leader, I’m up an hour before everyone.)

“Parker, I want you to take third shift with Branson, Ill have Cruz and Donny take the First. Get some sleep, and what ever you do.. DO NOT SLEEP ON GUARD DUTY AGAIN”

“Roger that”

First shift went very smooth, I was woke up about 15 minutes early, to gather my gear, knock the sleep monkeys off my shoulder, and get to the foxhole. I stared at a line of trees/bushes/shrubs for 2 hours, and went to wake Parker up.

“Parker, wake up, get Branson, report to the fox hole in 15 minutes”

“Roger that”

So there I am, about 0445 in the morning, about 20 minutes into my sleep and I hear coughing, gagging, groaning and…

FRONT!!!!!! BACK!!!!!! GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Shit.. it’s the Drill Sergeant and he’s hemming someone up.  I scramble for my gear, my weapon, and my KPOD, and run like hell down to the fox hole where all this commotion is coming from. Upon arrival, I see PVT Parker, in FULL NBC Gear (Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical gear. Heavy as hell, and it includes the gas mask) doing front back and goes, puking, sweating, and groaning… The best part is, an empty canister of CS gas lies at the bottom of the fox hole in the grenade dugout.  The air still stings the eyes and throat, even though the canister must have gone dead 5 minutes ago.

“PFC GARDNER, 3RD SQUAD LEADER REPORTING, DRILL SERGEANT”

“Well isn’t it fucking nice for you to show up, “PFC” Gardner. PFC MY FUCKING ASS. WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SOLDIER DOING SLEEPING IN THIS GOD DAMN FOX HOLE”

Me being the wise ass I have all ways been, and will all ways be replies:
“LOOKS LIKE HE WAS TIRED, DRILL SERGEANT!!!!!”

“GET THE FUCK UP PARKER. Get your eyes washed out, hydrate, and get your ass to your hooch and rack out. GARDNER!!! GET THE FUCK DOWN!!!

At this point, I snap down into what is called the Front Leaning Rest Position, a position that you are at when you are going to start doing push ups. I lock my elbows, make sure my body is parallel to the ground, and stay in that position

“Oh, so we’re mister fucking sarcastic. PUSH!!!!!!”

So here I am, being responsible, reporting to the drill sergeant as one of my squad members was being ‘corrected’ and end up completely in that soldiers shoes. getting the shit smoked out of me. I mean were talking about pushups, front back and go’s, flutter kicks… all because one of my squad members decided to take a SLEEPING BAG, and wear his NBC gear in the fox hole because he was tired and cold. Yeah, we laughed about it after graduation in AIT, but I swear to god, that was my most miserable night in basic training. I got about 2:30 hours of sleep in 2 days of continuous work and drills, very little food, and the food I did have I was profusely puking up on the floor during this ‘corrective action’. That lesson has taught me one thing. No matter how close a friend is, you can never trust them to do the right thing when self preservation has kicked in.

I got my first blackberry as a valentines day gift this year from shannon. How effing cool is that? Finally, a woman who treats her geek properly I do admit, I have snagged a keeper!

So for the past few months I have been tinkering with it. Downloading applications, themes, programs, setting up all my email accounts to filter to my blackberry. After a while you kind of get those ‘feelings’ when you know without looking at your berry, that theres a message waiting. Well a while after that, you start to get the ‘phantom’ sightings.

What I mean by this is… Lets say you are me, and we are driving down the road. Well, you being me, a super uber geek, you prop your berry up against the shifter so the screen is visible and you dont have to hold it, or keep it in your lap. Out of no where, you see the red LED alert light flash (thats what happens when you get an email, miss a call, recieve an SMS, etc). Dont forget, you are me, and we are one bad ass geek. So we immidiately reach for the berry to check on the alert. All of a sudden…………..

IT FLASHES GREEN (Meaning there is NO message or anything waiting)

Being baffled the first few times, I watch it for a few more blink cycles… all green.

THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME TO ME AND IM SOOOOOOO READY TO PULL THE GREEN LIGHT OUT FROM THE PHONE! WRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!!!!!!!

So apparently, this wizard wanted to be-rid himself  of his robes and feel the cold breeze on his go-nads.

The cops can be heard repetively saying, “Please, just put your robes back on, and you can have a great time”.

But, alderon and azeroth behold! Everytime the clothes are given/tossed back at him… the wizard casts reflection rank 15, and the clothes magically bounce back.

So, once the cops go for the rubber gloves, everything just kinda gets messy from there.  Some people calling this “the best tasing traing video since ‘dont tase me bro’ “

Well, I think it is time to breathe some life into this place!

I’ve been trying to remove my self a little from my addiction of online gaming, which can be a HUGE problem for people, from what I’ve read. It has not been very easy, I will admit.  Since leaving the Army and coming home a year ago… I have found that I really have no more friends. Most have gone into military acadamies, jail, moved, back into jail again, etc.  So I turned to my ‘other friends’, which consist of online avatars, or pixels on my screen with a voice coming from my headphones.

WRONG CHOICE MR GARDNER!

Not exactly the smartest move on my part.  Not only do I crave online games, because its my hobby, but I crave them for contact from my friends.

It got pretty bad, to the point where it was causing problems in my real life, and my relationship with Shannon. When I noticed it, I decided to take charge!!!

So here I am. An avid blog reader now. I have found two blogs I really enjoy.

One being “Thelifeofjustin” which is a pretty cool blog taking you through the adventures of an X Cubicle lifer, to a self employed, professional blogger. You can find his blog at http://www.lifeofjustin.com

The other being a blog from an x World of Warcraft player that goes by the name BigRedKitty, or simply BRK. He quit playing wow, due to personal life stuff and has now turned his blog into simply a blog about his life and the goings on in it. You can find his blog at http://www.dphowell.com/ it has a lot of military stories, and NASA stories, as he works for NASA and used to serve time in the Air Force.
So this post doesn’t end up getting too crazy long, I’ll wrap it up!

I’m going to do some research into the “widgets” you can use through wordpress, maybe cancel my WoW subscription and use that money to rent webspace and what not, and get this place happenin!

WoW Wrath of the lich king

That’s right ladies and germs! Wrath of the Lich King is comingout FINALLY. All kind of things come with this. Like the new mounts, the new classes, achievements, rumors of siege based PvP system, and of corse, leveling our little graphical versions of our fantasy selves to 80! Wooooohooo!

Man is this going to be insane! Not only did I abandon my level 70 Night Elf Shadow Priest (Alliance) which is hella geared, on the Gul’dan server, for a Rogue (horde) on the Kil’Jaden server (currently Level 56) But not I have to choose to take my rogue to 70 for PvP or start on the new class coming out which 75% of players are rumored to be doing. So, hop on the band waggon or keep going with the rogue? Decisions to make there are.

Im a total sucker for animals. Well at my job there isnt just one or two raccoons here that live off the trash discarded from the facilities.. theres an entire family.

When I fist saw them I stayed clear from them.. God knows the last thing I need is fkn rabies or something. Well.. The mom raccoon (I’m guessing, its the smaller of the two older ones, and it is allways with the 4 younger ones) is straight up curious about humans. She sits by the benches while people eat in the break area and waits for table scraps. The four little ones are a hoot! I can now get 2 of them to come right up to me about 6 inches away. I’ve never moved to touch them in fear for what I percieve to be the father of the bunch. This fucker is big enough to put up a pretty decent fight with your average size house dog! I mean HUGE god damn thing. Scares the living shit out of me!

So anyways.. I’m going to try and bring in a camera in the next few days to snap off a few before the animal people come to take em away!

Anyone else have a gay ass job lol?

Well.. My job is’nt honestly that bad. I get close to zero human interaction. No one bothers me. I get peace and quiet and tons of time to think. Recently have discovered the log in and password to access the computer here in the office ^.^

But anyways. I work as a Security Guard for the company Wackenhut. Wont say my exact post, but i patrol 5 facilities and the surrounding property. The facilities here make top components for military and civilian electronics for aircraft.

On to the gay part. I’m 21 almost 22 years of age, and I’m working a graveyard shift (11:30pm-07:30am) which means my social life is non existent. I go to work, come home, I’m up for about 2 hours, go to sleep. wake up at about 5:30-6:30pm, eat dinner, Normally lay back down till 9:15pm. That’s when I’m taking a shower and from then on its getting ready for work. Monday night through Saturday morning. Yuck.

But… It’s money. Who can really complain at the end of the week when theres money in your pocket and food in your mouth? Maybe it’s just me being selfish?

Tonight I came to realise something…

I’ve got issues. No, Seriously! I’ve got some damn issues in my head that I need to get fixed.

Take for instance… My relationship. The most important thing in my life, 10 months our from our wedding.. and I’m still treating it as a high school relationship at times. I think only of my self and have no consideration for feelings when I say things. Or as soon as I hear something I don’t like or disagree with, this switch inside goes from luke warm to boiling in about, oh lets say .5 seconds. Then when I’m at that stage I take this defensive posture towards just about anything and everything. Now I’m not saying that I am always the culprit in this. But I do contribute to it quite a lot.

My friend that I normally turn to for advice, the person that’s known me for just about a lifetime and a half.. well, to be honest doesn’t know me at all anymore. A few years off into the Army just about ended all of my friendships I had back home. So I don’t know if its the fact I have no friends to turn to when I get frustrated, or no more friends to go blow off steam with, or what.

No idea whats causing all these fkn screws to come loose in my head.  But I need to figure it out, and fast.

I believe his exact times are from 6am-10am. Not quite sure on when he ends. Good news is: He’s back on the air.
